In HEBL division 2, the 3rd XI maintained the winning start to the year. Beating High Roding 3s by 21 runs. Stand in skipper Josh Ramsay led from the front, scoring 89 opening the innings. He and Gary Barnett put on 157 for the 2 wicket, enabling Sawbo to post 237 off their 40 overs.
Ramsay led an inexperienced bowling attack, with a number of players stepping up from the 4s for the game. The experienced Andrew Foster led the attack, taking 2 for 16 off his 8 overs. He took an early wicket, but High Roding steadily progressed through captain Andy Duke (41) and Tom Shrager (38). But the run rate climbed thanks to the stand out bowling of Matt Vaughan, who took 1 for 13 off his 8 overs. High Roding attempted to accelerate, but regular wickets and outstanding fielding meant they finished short at 206 for 7. This left the 3s joint top of the league with a top of the table clash against fellow unbeaten side Albury next week.
